Welcome to The Movie Chain

A few weeks ago Elizabeth and I watched both Cinderella Man and Sideways both with Paul Giamatti. We then watched The Italian Job. For some reason we were looking at the cast list of The Italian Job and I mentioned that Mos Def was one of the actors. Elizabeth asked how many movies I could possibly have that had Mos Def as a cast member (the answer is 4, name them and I'll give you a prize).

After this I started checking out the rest of the cast members of The Italian Job to see what other movies I had that they had been in. At some point I found The Illusionist which had both Ed Norton (also in The Italian Job) and Paul Giamatti (from the previously mentioned Cinderella Man and Sideways).

We (or I) then decided that we must watch The Illusionist in order to link Cinderella Man and Sideways to The Italian Job. Now, our new movie watching strategy is to only watch a movie which contains a cast member from the previous movie we watched. This blog will record our journey through our (or my) movie collection.

Now, I know one for sure. Mos Def was in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and that must be in your collection. He also played a bit part in the Eddie Murphy movie Showtime. He was phenomenal in the TV movie Something the Lord Made with Alan Rickman, but I don't know if that's on DVD. He, if memory serves, was also in Monster's Ball, but I'm hoping you don't have that pile of crap. So, I guess I'm halfway there, unless you're including the Italian Job. And, I wonder if you're including Soundtrack because that broadens it out a little. Come to think of it, he was also in 16 Blocks with Bruce and I believe he was in The Woodsmen with Kevin Bacon. That's got to be close.

Well, you named 3 of the 4 and yes, Italian Job is included in the 4.
I do have Monster's Ball so I guess that actually makes 5 but I'm pretty sure he was credited in that movie as Dante Beze.
So, there is one movie you haven't named yet.

Yeah, anything beyond that and I'd be reaching. The only other thing I can think of, might be a movie where he's appearing as himself like Chappelle's Block Party or the like.

yep, it a 'himself' appearance.

Don't forget 16 Blocks he was in that as well.
